As COVID-19 continues to impact in-person events, we’re committed to evolving our product and creating the tools you need to support your business and your ticket buyers.

Today, we’re excited to announce that you now have a new refund option to offer your ticket buyers. In addition to standard refunds, you also have the ability to offer credits to ticket buyers directly through Eventbrite that can be redeemed for your future events.

Credits are now available on your Refund Policy page. The Credits tool is fully integrated with the Eventbrite platform, which means cleaner reporting for you and easier redemption for your attendees compared to third-party solutions or discount codes.

Meet Credits: a new refund option with better reporting and more flexibility for you and a better experience for your attendees

Less work, more flexibility, cleaner reports

With Credits, not only can you save time by allowing attendees to request refunds as credits directly in Eventbrite, but you can also:

  • Issue credits for a single order or in bulk for multiple orders at once.
  • Keep track of credits issued and view redeemed credits in Order Reports, along with reliable sales reporting when credits are redeemed.
  • Choose when a credit expires (1 yr, 2 yrs, 3 yrs, or never) so you can align expiration with your future event schedule and give your attendees plenty of time to redeem their credit.

A refund that keeps your community engaged

Offering a credit to attendees has longer-term benefits for your business as well:

  • When you offer reimbursement as credit, it can only be used for your future events, ensuring the refunded amount will come back to your business.
  • Offering a credit sends an encouraging signal to ticket buyers that you will host future events and keeps them engaged.

A better attendee experience

With Credits, your ticket buyers no longer need to find their gift card email or remember long codes. Additionally, attendees will be able to:

  • Just like cash refunds, attendees can submit a refund request for credit directly through their Eventbrite account.
  • View their available credits in their account and select credit as a payment method at checkout, without having to keep track of any codes.
  • Redeem credits for multiple tickets for an event in a single order. And if they don’t use the full credit, the unused amount will automatically remain in their account.

As a reminder, if you may need to cancel or postpone events in the coming months, we recommend providing regular updates to your ticket buyers. Keeping attendees informed not only helps foster a loyal community, but proactive communication about event changes and refund options may help reduce the amount of contact you receive from attendees. Here are some best practices and templates you can use for communicating with your attendees.
