Shop Made in DC

Shop Made in DC (SMIDC) is a mission-driven retail initiative that serves as a platform for creativity -- enabling ideas, products and people to converge and drive traffic to neighborhoods while creating low-entry to market opportunities for DC-based makers and small retailers.

In 2017, SMIDC launched their first space in Dupont dedicated to Made in DC producers with the support of DC Department of Small and Local Business Development, Golden Triangle BID and Boston Properties, as a means to activate the city’s MADE IN DC Program.

The 3000 SQFT mix-use space acts a retail incubator showcasing a selection of over 100 MADE IN DC products including apothecary, apparel, art, furniture, jewelry, home decor and stationary and anchored by a cafe that serves a rotating selection of pastries, local coffees, teas, kombucha, beer, cider and wine. Every 6 to 8 weeks a new fast-casual concept rotates providing a full-service menu for lunch and dinner.

The space is host to weekly events that linking customers to makers through workshops, meetups and pop-ups for emerging brands.

The store was founded by Stacey Price and Michael Babin.
